And I'll say that there's a history shared between Larry and Chris that not all
of us are privvy to. I know Chirs, and he wouldn't have done this out of some
quick 'off-the-cuff' "I'm bored so who can I pick on today" kinda scenario.
Chris's first post regarding htis situation, where he offered up a little
prayer, there was a little smirk on my face "If you're granting wishes today..."
I saw a West Wing ep once, where Jed and Abby (husband and wife) were arguing,
and Abby said bluntly, "I don't want to talk about it!" and Jed was all
flippant, "Ever?" to which she immediately responded, "Oh if wishes made it so,
Jed!!"
I mean, when passions run high between two people with history, things get said.
If we, as rubberneckers want to chime in and say, "Oh my Chris!! That was
totally uncalled for!!!!", hey, we can, but we'd be wrong. For myself, I
wouldn't have said it, but I'm not in the least surprised that it was said by
Chris and directed at Larry. Nor, I might add, do I think it should be a
punishable offense--Larry played loose with the rules in the past with regards
to Chris (something that some people here in this discussiondon't know) and, at
htat time when Chris was all "I'm so pissed that Larry did that!!!" I said,
"C'mon Chris, first you dared him and secondly, it was funny!"
Now I say the same to Larry (and others who are all "Chris=bad" for what he did)
"C'mon guys, y'all don't know the history b/w Larry and Chirs and secondly, it
really was funny!" (the post here about the prayer, not necessarily the
contest, but that's a story for another time)

I do acknowledge that he canceled the contest, but only at (...) (20 years ago, 4-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.general)
