Message from Doug Bell regarding Electronic Thinking

Hi Everyone, It was great seeing all of you at the SMART meeting on Saturday. One of the things that came up at the meeting was Doug Bell's new involvement in the company Electronic Thinking. Doug asked me to forward the message below about some (...) (15 years ago, 23-Nov-09, to lugnet.org.us.smart, FTX)

  Re: LGPL Datsville

(...) Sorry. I just reread that and it's full of grammar mistakes. Mike (15 years ago, 23-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 606p01b.dat (Was: LGPL Datsville)

(...) Is it an official part? Why isn't it included with the official distribution? Mike (15 years ago, 23-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 606p01b.dat (Was: LGPL Datsville)

(...) I've checked this out now, and you can't replace 606p01b.dat with 606p01.dat. It will not come out with the same colors, regardless which main color you use in the calling Type 1 line. /Tore (15 years ago, 23-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LGPL Datsville

(...) Well, the main difference (I think) is that if someone modifies a LGPL or CC work and distributes it on the Internet or something, he or she must also allow other people to do the same with their modified version. There are also some (...) (15 years ago, 22-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LEGO® Launches Battle Over Trademark

(...) You're assuming that TLC actually took cues from MB in terms of how to fix their business model. In terms of the AFOL market, all it meant to TLC was that their customers stopped buying as much stuff, not that they started buying the (...) (15 years ago, 22-Nov-09, to lugnet.mediawatch, FTX)

Re: LEGO® Launches Battle Over Trademark

(...) Here's a better question. If that had been the case, would anyone have even had the desire to attempt to clone MB at all? There are several different construction toy systems out there, and so far the only one I've really seen any non-bootleg (...) (15 years ago, 22-Nov-09, to lugnet.mediawatch, FTX)

"This is the sort of language up with which I will not put." -Winston Churchill The false idea that you can't end a sentance with a preposition in English comes from the fact that you literally can't in Latin. You shouldn't just tack a (...) (15 years ago, 22-Nov-09, to lugnet.mediawatch, FTX)

  Re: LGPL Datsville

(...) I haven't got a clue. Never heard of LGPL or CC before. But I would be very surprised if my terms is more restricted in any way. My terms are: use my exactly how you like to as long as I have the right to use them the way I like. (...) I guess (...) (15 years ago, 22-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 606p01b.dat (Was: LGPL Datsville)

(...) Thanks, I'll have a look at it. (...) I'm not sure. Check if there'll be any color changes. It may have been inlined first, then color edited. But that sounds like an awkward way to go(?) If you see no color difference, just replace the (...) (15 years ago, 22-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 606p01b.dat (Was: LGPL Datsville)

(...) In fact, come to think of it, I probably added it myself when I was working with the file years ago! ;) Mike (15 years ago, 22-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 606p01b.dat (Was: LGPL Datsville)

(...) It's in town_full.dat, right after tbfire.dat. By the file name it sounds like a "plane" for the "X" and "Z" axes. So it probably was just used for orienting other models. Would it be safe to simply replace 606p01b.dat with 606p01.dat? Mike (15 years ago, 22-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LGPL Datsville

(...) Thanks! But, is PD compatible with a LGPL or CC project? (...) I'd like a copy. Do you have any documentation describing what you did and why you did it? Mike (15 years ago, 22-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad)
