Actually, theres a real question here. Is the train builders kit directly
related to the additional factory palette? (Assuming these are two separate
ventures that are both going to happen). Are they going to be based around the
same cluster bags, as weve seen with the mini robots kits and palettes?

Good question. Actually, were still working out many of the details,
specifically the great questions you ask above. More info as we can release (and
when we actually have decisions to release!).
In general, Id love to open this conversation up to the community at large.
Weve had quite a bit of conversation (as SteveB can attest) with the Signal
group about what parts are the core parts that are needed to make trains. We
have an initial palette, and I may be able to share that later. But before I do
that, Id really like to hear from the greater community. What do you think?
What parts (not necessarily train parts) are needed to create the widest
variety of trains possible?
Now, of course, theres always a certain level of restriction when talking about
creating a limited palette. Obviously theres more freedom when you can use
the entire historical range of LEGO elements than when you have to create any
amount of restrictions.
But I guess the core question here is this - Besides the obvious (buffer plates,
train wheels, bogies plates, etc.), what parts can you not live without in order
to be able to create great train models?
Thanks in advance for the input!
Jake
