  subway info?

Does anyone have information, specs, maps, links, pictures etc etc related to subway systems, and especially the new york subway? (23 years ago, 28-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: subway info?

Not sure about pics, but keep in mind that there are a bunch of lines that run through NYC and the surrounding burroughs (1-2-3-4-5-6, A-B-C-D-E-F-G...etc.) and not all, but many have different types of cars. The 2-3 line cars are quite different (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) And here I was thinking I'd get around to doing the Red Bird from memory.... you mean we can take pictures of them first? (23 years ago, 28-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: subway info?

The best site for information on the New York Subway that I've come across is (URL) That should cover just about every aspect of NYC subways that you'll need. Nicholas Allan "Jonathan Wilson" <jonwil@tpgi.com.au> wrote in message (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: subway info?

(...) I mainly just need a few photos of a "typical" nyc subway car and any photos of stations. Details of what sort of things you find in stations (what shops and/or vending machines) would be usefull. (23 years ago, 1-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: subway info?

(...) The nycsubway.org site (sp?) given earlier has all that info and then some. If anything it has TOO MUCH info. Fascinating reading though. NYC stations are pretty barren, people don't dawdle around, and machines would get vandalized/robbed. (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: subway info?

(...) I will try to grab some pics tonight. As far as vending and shops, I haven't really seen any vending to speak of other than the machines that sell the metrocard passes. With shops, lots of stations have newsstands that are built into the (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: subway info?

Actually, if your station is supposed to date from the current "Reign of King Giuliani," all of the legless panhandlers have been whisked away somewhere. I haven't seen one sitting in a station since 1997. The panhandlers who can stand up do still (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: subway info?

(...) I mentioned it because I saw one Monday nite, although he was working the train rather than the station... he scooted on at 53rd/lex (this was on a 6 train) and was with us to Union Square where I detrained. ++Lar (23 years ago, 1-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: subway info?

(...) There arent as many panhandlers as in previous years, but I see them all the time. (among other interesting things). King Guiliani has cleaned things up, but the 'army' can't be everywhere at once. Jonathan (23 years ago, 1-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: subway info?
