If you're going to include thumbnails you'll want to make them uniform size,
for fairness. If you can't do this automatically it's probably more trouble
than you'd be willing to put up with. You could insist that thumbnails
submitted be a certain size but then you'd be thumbnail police. Again, too much
trouble.
If you've got a program that creates thumbnails you could have contestants
provide you with a link to a picture they want turned into a thumbnail and you
could do it for them. If you don't have such a program I recommend not
providing thumbnails.
