How about this idea: hold a contest. Post it in lugnet.build.contests
and everything. People submit proposals for docking rings or airlocks
or whatever, and then people vote on the proposals, and whichever is
the most popular can be adopted as "the standard". The submitters
should also agree to give up the intellectual property ownership of
the standard to the public domain.
There could be two separate categories: minifig and cargo. Also there
might be separate airlock and non-airlock versions of each.
