  A few questions.

Can the motor outputs be used to close a relay instead of running a motor? As an example to control a motor that needs 120v AC? As far as the inputs go, are the digital inputs for switch type sensors (high or low value only), and the analog inputs (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Sonar

The hardware is limited to 31.5' (~ 10 meters). The limitation is on the design of the receive amplifier's gain module (and noise floor). Generally scaling this to an integer of 32767 results in a precision of just over 1 tenth of an inch (or 1/3 (...) (25 years ago, 26-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Sonar

(...) Martin, I noticed a similar result as well. Maybe someone else can say for sure, but I seem to remember that there may be a way to slow down your interrupt counter, so that it won't overflow (a timer setup register). I don't have my 'HC11 book (...) (25 years ago, 26-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: sonar mapping with evidence grid

(...) Yep, about 30 degrees. There's a pretty good article about how to deal with it on the Seattle Robotics Society web site: (URL) it out before somebody decides to delete it! One thing they don't really discuss in the article is how much extra (...) (25 years ago, 26-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Sonar

(...) That sounds correct. Someone else asked about that last year. Try searching the mailing list archives. The problem is not just that the result is an integer, but that it's a signed integer. You effectively only get 15 bits of information out (...) (25 years ago, 26-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Sonar

Hi I've a Polaroid Sonar Ranging Modul. The longest distance I can mesaure is about 2,7 meters. In my opinion it's not the hardware, but as the result is an integer, so it can't be greater than 32768. Right? Has anybody developed another programm, (...)   sonar mapping with evidence grid

Hi, I have connected sonar to my HB and it is time to analyse the data. Is it true that the sonar range reading is in a cone shape at 30 deg. and not at point form ? I just can't find any information from the Polaroid home page. Is anyone there (...) (25 years ago, 26-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Handyboard Upload

Ive used the serial routines on the Hb site with moderate success. You can send data byte by byte along the line through the interface board and back to your serial port. A simple way to test the incoming data is to run a terminal program on the (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Handyboard Upload

(...) I've done this. Kind of. I hooked up a Handyboard to listen to a GPS, and to send commands and data to a terminal node controller (an amateur radio modem) to send my position out over the radio. In order to do this, I told Interactive-C to (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Handyboard Upload

Here is a RS232 com driver that you can use to send serial data to other devices. It's on the Handy Board Site. (URL) is more info similar to the above, also from the Handy Board site: (URL) there is the attached from George Musser's Advanced (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: InterActive C 3.2 or Interactive C 2.8 freeware

The commercial version of IC offers the ability to declare multidimesional arrarys (with freeware, you only can use single dimensiond arrays), commercial IC allows #includes, and the user interface is somewhat more robust, making debugging more (...)   Handyboard Upload

Has anyone out there ever uploaded data collected by the Handyboard back to the PC? I need to get some distances measured by our sonar sensors back up to the PC for use in another application. If you can help me, I'd really apprieciate it. (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Handyboard in mix with SSC II Servo Controller

Hi again, Don't be confused la. I think you had made a little mistake. In order to interface SSC with HB, the serial connection is not by the telephone line. The connections is done by connecting the serial data pin on the SSC. Remind you that it is (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Handyboard in mix with SSC II Servo Controller

Hi! I've tried connecting the SSC II to the handyboard through a telephone wire (and when that didn't work) through the configurating header at the upper right corner of the SSC II circuit board. I've downloaded the proper library to the handyboard (...) (25 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  dead hb - alive again

hello. seems my dead handyboard problem of yesterday was a result of a bad adapter, not the board itself. a relief. thanks, claudia (25 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Handyboard in mix with SSC II Servo Controller

Hi, There are several steps you should follow. 1..Download the 9600 serial driver form (URL) you that if you use SSC controllers, download the inverted version. 2...Refer to you SSC manual, connect the serial in pin to PA7 of handyboard, PA7 is the (...)   dead hb - overpowered?

hello. i used the wrong dc adapter (15v) to power my hb today. i made the switch to the proper adapter (12v) fairly quickly, and things seemed fine - i was able to download the pcode. but when i rebooted the board, the power died and i've not been (...)   Re: resistor pull-up help!

basically, yes. the inputs from the expansion board feed into the inputs on the main board. if you need a high impedance input, your best bet is to cut a trace on the main board and use one of those inputs. the exp bd takes over main board inputs 0 (...)   RE: resistor pull-up help!

Hi, Are the general-purpose analog inputs in the exp board also connected to the pull-up in the HB main? To use that kind of sensors the only way is to cut the trace in the HB, no matter I have or no the ExpBoard? Thanks Jose Luis --- Original (...)   Re: Required tools for assembly

I have a really nice, and very expensive (somebody gave it to me), Tech 2432A dual trace scope with storage. I have also built about 20 boards of various kinds, some of my own design.   Pull-up resistors

I would like to attach a LM34 to my miniboard. In testing the LM34 at a room temperature of 60F, the device gives me a reading of .6V. The docs say that every 10mv=1F, so it seems to be working correctly. When I attach it to one of the analog ports (...) (25 years ago, 22-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: handy board troubles...

great, that's excellent! the key trick was pulling all the socketed chips. it's a weird but true fact that chips that don't have valid logic supplies can draw power in from their inputs pins (when the inputs are high) and operate off of that leeched (...)   Re: handy board troubles...

  Re: handy board troubles...

(...) Yes, that was indeed the problem. Upon removing all the ICs, the power to U14 disappeared. What could cause this, a blown fuse at F1? (25 years ago, 22-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: servo ports on Exp board...help?

  Re: handy board troubles...

re: this problem with the memory contents not persisting, check the separate power supply to the RAM (U14). you might need to remove all socketed ICs from the board 'cause power can bleed to chips via input pins. also check that U12 the DS1233 is (...)
