I consider myself a LEGO purist in the sense that I try as hard as I can to
solve the problems with what LEGO provides.
I simply can't take a GOOD LEGO piece and "brake" it of modify it on
purpose.
I will, on the other hand, try to use a broken one and modify it as I can so
it can remain usefull and I won't have to put it in the recycle bin.
This is what's going to happen to my older Cybermaster unit that had the
left motor stuck (and after opening it, I saw it had some plastics broken
too).
After receiving a replacement unit (kudos goto LEGO support !!!) the older
unit will go through a "hacking" process where I'll remove the original
motors (the good one I'll keep it as a spare) and put the motor wires
through to external LEGO sockets, so I can still use the CPU but with
"normal" external Technic motors (ok, ok, I'll have to cut a *good* LEGO
wire in two, but that's as far as I can go).
I'll try to keep functional the two very usefull Tacho "sensors" (now free
from any motor).
This is how purist I am.

hmmm... faster CPU, more RAM, more (better) input/outputs ?
That *should* be some of the specs to the RCX 3.0 :>
but... since LEGO won't make it, and since it'll use every
other LEGO things (sensors, motors, lights, ...)
it would be a very interesting addition to my LEGO/Robotics hobby.

"peer to peer RF networking" COOL!!!
together with "IrDA"
and even "10 BaseT ethernet"
and still LEGO "compatible",
that's really cool :)
will it have a "nice" LEGO alike plastic box to encase the CPU ?

Well... it should be the LEGO Mindstorms that should make such things, but
since they don't have that vision or interest or some other reason, that's
one way to push LEGO Robotics.
