  AI, Neural Nets

A month ago or so, I read a message which had a link about Lego and Artificial Intelligence (is not the van dam one). I remember it had several videos: -Simple Method -Adaline -Neural net ... The higher level the better results. Does anyone know (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Motor with Gear Reduction ??!??

(...) Yeh, like the <set:8720> motor. By the way, is there any current set in production that includes the micromotor? I'm pretty sure that the last Technic set that had it was the <set:8480 Shuttle>. What about non-Technic sets? - David (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Motor with Gear Reduction ??!??

(...) Not sure if this is still available via S@H (or dacta, I suppose): <set:5119 5119 Micromotor> And I'm not sure if this has one? <set:8457 8467 {Power Puller}> DaveE (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Motor with Gear Reduction ??!??

(...) Yes, I saw this service pack on S@H about a week ago. It's also available through pisco (just the motor, not the entire pack) (...) No, it has the regular geared motor. (...) - David (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: 2.0 Firmware

Did you edit the ATLClient.ini file? You have to specify where ATLClient is supposed to look for the files it uses (this is discussed in the Install.txt file). After editing this file, run ATLClient.exe and download the new firmware. Next open up (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: Motor with Gear Reduction ??!??

There is a large non-Technic divers set that has a micromotor and fiberoptics to get a flashing light effect. I'm not sure if this set is still in production - it has been on clearance in some stores a couple of month ago. Tilman (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: Motor with Gear Reduction ??!??

OK, I meant "general purpose motors". If you consider everything that is available today and turns if you apply electrical power to it, you get: - 5114 non geared 9V Motor - 5300 Train Motor 9V - 624 9V Motor. Actually, a motor block with two axles (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: Motor with Gear Reduction ??!??

Oops, it's a space set that has the Micromotor, not a divers set. It's 6979 Interstellar Starfigher, released in 1997. Tilman (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Struggling with encoder wheel

I'm having a hard time finding a good algorithm for the encoder wheel I came up with for use on my webcam. The way I packed the bits in the lookup table has made it hard to get any speed out of the algorithms. I'm using NQC, and the LEGO OS seems (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Amiga Software

Hello All, I have just started with the Lego Mindstorm and would like to know if there is any software available for the Amiga computer to control the PBrick. I have looked in the most likely places but have not found any, I was told that there was (...) (24 years ago, 11-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Amiga Software

I don't know if an Amiga port of NQC has already been done, but if not it shouldn't be very difficult. Grab the sources from (URL) only real "porting" is access to the serial port, which is abstracted in a single class. If the Amiga has POSIX style (...) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

(...) Methinks it'll be muscle wire or air muscle or something akin... Well, if you don't need the pneumatics any more, how about "donating" them to me :-) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

(...) Thanks for the identification of the tire pressure gauge. I reckon the stores will soon be doing a brisk trade in them. But I would hesitate to use the word *calibrate* - the pressure sensor is a far more delicate device than the tire gauge. (...)   Re: Motor with Gear Reduction ??!??

(...) Depends on when and to whom you ask the question. The ungeared motor was "standard" for a long time, and has only been gradually outshadowed by the geared motor since 1998. (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Struggling with encoder wheel

Pretty neat Chris. You've very nearly recreated a special kind of optical encoder that was developed by my former employers called a virtual absolute encoder.   Re: Struggling with encoder wheel

(...) If I had room for a 64 element array, I'd just use that and make a lookup table. Unfortunately I don't, and I can't figure out a way to pack things in and still look them up with any speed. I also can't find any way to mathematically convert (...) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Struggling with encoder wheel

(...) Can't you just use a large switch() statement inside a function to simulate a 64 element array?   Looking for orthogonal motion

Hi all, I haven't been able to find anything on the net about a Lego implementation of an orthogonal drive system using only motors (i.e. no pnumatics).   Re: Looking for orthogonal motion

Hi David, I have built a robot that does this for a university 'robot maze solver' project. My solution is big, ugly, very slow and pretty complex. It could probably be improved a lot if it was redesigned. However, it uses 3 motors (1 for (...) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Internet Controlled Robots
