I was thinking of using only one at the end (attached to the + where it goes onto the PCB), and running a lead to clip onto the first (attached to the - ). The 4 middle ones can be ignored. I know that some of you use pneumatics for yuor robots. How do you do that? I suppose you use a compressor and a motor to change the valve, but that requires two motors and 2 is all that come with the MindStorms. Yes, I can buy more, but I´d like to (...) I have been searching for the answer to this one for a while. My intent is to find a supplier who has small electrically operated (solenoid) valves which can be driven by the RCX output(s). If the RCX is "off" then power usage is reduced to a trickle, supplying power only to maintain the data in RAM, and in this state the RCX can survive for upwards of a minute or more, even with no batteries (...) I'd love to get a hold of some small RCX controllable valves also. I just finnished building a six legged pneumatic walker that would benefit from these for different walking motions. Presently, it just walks forward with the tripod gate type (...) (26 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Adam: The pink book part number from Motorola is: M68HC11RM/AD this is the general reference manual for the whole family of microcontrollers, there is also a technical data manual with P/N: MC68HC11A8/D this one just covers the A series processors. I have one of each, but the RCX is far more interesting. I think the RDS would be fun for younger kids (it says 9+ on the box), but once you got the hang of it, you would quickly want the programming power of the RCX. My scout is still configured in (...) Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. I believe the RDS Scout fills a nitch in the market that was lacking. When the RIS first came out, I was working at an educational toy store that sold it. Most kids that got one loved it but quite a few RISs did get (...) (26 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi Ralph, I just tried out to remove all EMITs from ACCEPT word, in order to eliminate back echo from RCX. It works good: less Frame Errors and Break Interrupts from comm port during the session.
