This is a nice, well-run hotel. I have had friends and family members stay
at this hotel many times (most recent was my Mother 2 weeks ago). The rooms
are nice and well kept. And it is one freeway exit from legoland. Very well
choice. But if you do not want to spend $70 a night, there is some
hotels/motels like motel 6 types around the area - not to sure about those,
never been in them before.

I will try to check on the shuttle, and if you are coming into the SD
airport, foret abiut a taxi - maybe a shuttle service will be better? There
is a major shuttle service here in SD called 'cloud 9 shuttle'

I have no idea what the prices are, but you can find out on their site.
I am working on making a guide to help everybody out (resturants, shops,
etc) if there is anything you want to know, ask me - I will tell you as much
as I know, and if I do not know, I will try to find out! I go up there at
least 2 times a month, my Dad has a weekend condo on the other side of the
lake from legoland and I have year passes to legoland, so I know the area
pretty well.
