(...) higher price? You can get them delivered for less than $70. The only shop I've found that carried Laetherman over here has the Wave at 300 guilders, which amounts to a cool $150 USD. Arg! I'm using it to extract the source from Cygwin32 20.1... This tool is *incredibly* slow! Does anyone else use it? Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Multi-purpose tools.

(...) The new Leatherman Wave fixes both these problems. At much higher price, of course. Anyway, with the old Leatherman tools, closing the handles after opening the knife blade gives some protection; the knife blade can't fold too much. But it's (...)   Re: Multi-purpose tools.

(...) I don't like the Leatherman tools. Their handles in plier mode cut into my hand, and the knife blades don't lock open (!). I used to be a fan of Victorionox, but their blades don't seem to stand up to a lot of stress. I personally love my Buck (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: SETI@Home?

  Re: SETI@Home?

(...) As far as I can tell on my windows box, it only uses the not-needed-right-now cycles. Linux should _easily_ do that, as process prioritization is built into it. I know the linux rc5 client is permanently niced to 10, or something like that. (I (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: SETI@Home?

(...) Yeah, I hadn't really thought of that. One thing I'm going to regret is having to stop the SETI thing from running on my full-time Linux box at home.   Multi-purpose tools.

Ah! A new group, and _perfect_ for the question I wanted to ask.
