Hrmmm. I'm in the market for a 50+" TV right now. Does that mean I
could justify taking a half dozen out of the store at night to
"evaluate" as long as I return the ones I don't like then pay for the
one I keep?

I wouldn't bother with it if I were you. The DVD is actually in a
cartride kinda like the PD media so you'd only be able to read it in
that one drive. It's also hellaciously slow for writing.
If you don't already have a writable drive I'd consider a 4x or faster
SCSI burner. I assume you have SCSI because I think the Panasonic
only comes in SCSI. If you're willing to spring for the extra cost
in exchange for speed, take a look at the Plextor 8x write/20x read
drive that just came out. That'll be my next burner if my current 4x
gives up the ghost.
