I just stumbled onto mp3 music.  My 4.6Gig spare drive has about
400Meg left...

Me too!  Now I just wish my 20x drive would work right for ripping.
So far, I only have been able to get the double-speed drive to rip.

I wonder how hard it would be to create an mp3-CD player?  Put
together a CD-ROM drive, DOS-on-a-chip, a DSP, and some custom
playback software.  Burn CD's with 10-15 CDs-worth of music on each.
That would be great for traveling. :)

Sounds like an interesting idea.  I like the idea about an in-car
player I saw.  Potentially able to hold up to 28 gig.
Now that's traveling music.

Note: I am *not* advocating creating mp3-based archive CDs for
distribution or sharing.  Just keeping in that gray area of
duplication for personal use.

Of course.

(...) Plextor is the only way to go for high speed audio extraction. I'd rather have my 12-20Plex than any other CD on the market, except for maybe the new UW 40Plex. (26 years ago, 26-Nov-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
