Both. I think the conversations went along the lines of: "I'm sorry Mr.
Smith, you know the rules, we're going to have to bust up all your
equipment." "I know, well, it was good while it lasted." (actually I
remember very little about the distiller's reaction, but the article was
quite clear that the whole thing almost reached the level of "friendly
competition", I think everyone was friends - in fact, I wouldn't be
surprised if the revenooers participated in the celebrations of new batches,
so long as they were careful about being off duty...)
