  Rollercoasters

Okay folks, the season is upon us. I'm off today to go ride the Cyclone at Coney Island (IMO still the best rollercoaster in the world. And yes I've been to cedar Point and Great Adventure) and it Nathan's Hot Dogs (yesterday was the Hot Dog Eating (...) (25 years ago, 30-May-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Rollercoasters

(...) Yes. I assume you participate in the annual ranking/poll?? I stopped reading rec.roller.coaster due to time constraints rather than lack of interest. Are you in ACE? I've never ridden the cyclone, unf. My favorite woody has to be Giant Dipper (...) (25 years ago, 30-May-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Rollercoasters

(...) I'm not in ACE, yet. I've considered it many times, but I am lucky to get to 3 parks in a summer. (...) Major bummer. An all time classic, rattle your ribs, throw you around, vibration-a-thon. (...) Hate the Beast - ASFIC, greatly overrated. (...) (25 years ago, 31-May-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Rollercoasters

The best coaster has to the Incredible Hulk coaster at Islands of Adventure Orlando. Tons of fun, plus the most efficient loading coaster I've ever been on (although I waited only 10 minutes, the park was only open for preview when I went). The (...)   Re: Rollercoasters

For info on the poll, go here. (URL) I know the Beast is not liked generally. But my reason for liking it is personal and special to me. You know those signs that say, "keep your hands and feet inside the car"? Well, I tend to ignore those and keep (...) (25 years ago, 31-May-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Rollercoasters

(...) Then you definitely need to get to NYC and ride the Cyclone. On the first turn, I swear you can see the inside wheels of the first car coming off the track. Because it is a true twister and runs within its own very tight framework, you have a (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Ed Jones type-ed: (...) YeeeeeeeHAAAA! Hi, I'm Steve and I am a coaster. "Hi Steve" I live about 15 minutes from Busch Gardens-Williamsburg, but have yet to ride Apollo's Chariot. I've got a season's pass so it's only a matter of time... I have (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) Is AlpenGeist the hanging steel coaster? I went to BG a couple years ago, but I can't remember what the name of that coaster is. I hope to go later this year when my sister comes to visit. (...) They removed Draken Fire!?!?!? Nooo...ooo!!! I (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Rollercoasters

(...) Yeah, it's an inverted steel, but I believe its quite new. The one you rode is probably the Big Bad Wolf or something of similar name. (...) They removed it, but another park has bought it and will be rebuilding it. Nobody knows which park it (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Dark Rides (was Re: Rollercoasters)

(...) Err, I don't mean to be pedantic (well, ok, so I do), but Space Mountain isn't a "dark ride". It's a roller coaster that happens to take place in the dark. "Dark rides" (disney-specific) would include Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the Peter Pan ride, (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Dark Rides (was Re: Rollercoasters)

Mr. Toad is a motorized car using a guide rail to follow a predefined path through an essentially flat area, Peter Pan is a suspended overhead tracked ride (uses overhead chain conveyor technology), Pirates is a guided boat ride, small world (...)   Re: Rollercoasters

(...) My scariest ride was on Space Mountain in Anaheim. The boys were *just* tall enough to go on all the rides. It was getting late, and Kristin had something else to do (shopping, prolly), so us three guys headed off. I didn't remember until we (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) I am, I had to be forced to go on my first rollercoaster by peer pressure - cheers lads! From then on I've had to go on every one I could - I still get scared but I know I#ll enjoy it so I override my emotions, this is what we have in the UK: (...)   Re: Rollercoasters

(...) Hands down on quantity would have to be Cedar Point, "America's roller coast(tm)" per their PR, Sandusky Ohio(on Lake Erie) with 12. It has some really good ones. Raptor may be the finest inverted steelie ever built, and Magnum 2000 the finest (...) (25 years ago, 3-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Rollercoasters

(...) I'm actually going to CP next Tuesday. The highlight for me has always been taking the midnight ride on the Magnum 200XL (I know there's an ingrained urge to make everything "2000," but it's really "200") in pitch-black. You face out towards (...) (25 years ago, 3-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Rollercoasters
