Hi John!
First off, let me say - I hear you. I know what you're talking about (*and*
Chris is right - you're speaking to the wrong crowd, people on lugnet are
generally not crowd-followers(1)). I've seen it happen too as I was watching
CNN lately.
However, you're overlooking one thing; this is not the first time something
similar has happened in the U.S. History repeats itself. Look back 80 years
and you'll see the Red Scare, AKA McCarthyism - the opposition of any
"russian" and/or "socialist"/"communist" person. People were jailed with no
reason, deported without cause, etcetera. *Anyone* advocating *anything*
against the government was jailed. In other words - freedom of speech
compromised, people's rights taken away. It happened before, and it passed,
and who's to say it won't happen again? And pass again? *And*, more
importantly, what do you suggest to do to stop it?
Sorry I can't say more, I have a few things I simply *must* do today, even
though I'm sick. :-/ Maybe I'll come back later.

(1) Of course this is a very general statement, but it's based on my lugnet
and o-t.debate experience, as well as the fact that lego isn't a mainstream
hobby.
