The Block-Men site no longer exists, and I have a sense that the
manufacturer dropped the product line. There's no indication on the website
at http://www.dsitoys.com/ that Block-Men are still made.
Browsing the instructions online, I notice that the 8x16 baseplate uses
the same stud4 distribution on the underside that Block-Men had used, so
you're likely correct in assuming a connection, if only in terms of molds
purchased by Playmates.
I liked Block-Men overall, even if the piece:price ratio was barely as
good as that of LEGO sets. I found the plastic quality to be very high,
too; I'll be interested to see how the LOTR sets compare.
Dave!
