It is a bit late, but here is what happened at the get-together.

Well it didn't really go as planned, but I enjoyed it anyway.  Jorge was the
only adult to show up.  A friend of my son, and the friend's younger sister
came also.  My sister showed up with her two cats, but not for the Lego (I
didn't actually tell the cats there was Lego to play with, but they could
have figured it out, so I guess they didn't want to play). It was a bit of a
zoo, and not really conducive to building.  Jorge took advantage of the
large number of Lego magnets available to try to see if a Maglev train could
be built.  The kids were too wound up to concentrate on building, but they
did build some between chasing cats.  After I put the cats off-limits, I
started them building that Lego machine gun.  This they enjoyed, and they
got it built, taking frequent breaks to watch Digimon.  Once it was
operational, they used it in a time-honored tradition- torture the little
sister.  The sister involved enjoyed this, since she had a shield and could
run shreiking all over the house, and the kids had a glorious time spreading
Lego 2x4s all over the house, plotting strategy, squabbling over whose turn
it was with the gun, and taking frequent breaks for repairing the gun.  So,
in a sense, there was a Brikwars game at the get-together.

I didn't get around to getting my digital camera working, so I didn't take
any photos.  Jorge's prototype was interesting, but seem to show that Lego
magnets are not really suitable to hold a train suspended.  The "train" kept
finding magnets it was attracted to.

I'm going to be rebuilding my front porch this spring, so my house will be a
bit too messy to invite adults over to play Lego. I doubt I will be building
much with Lego.  I'm not sure I can convince my husband that building a
prototype of the porch in Lego is really essential as part of the real porch
job.

Hi, Well, with Joel not attending, things are getting a bit slim. Steve Piehler said he might be able to make it. Jorge, you were going to have to take off from work to come, so if you decide not to come, I'd understand. If you do want to come, let (...) (24 years ago, 22-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.us.oh.col)
