Boy, when I think of some of the stupid things people spend money on -
cigarettes, coffee, liquor (ok, good Irish Whiskey is acceptable),
designer clothes, $50k+ automobiles, all of which either get used up
immediately or wear out real soon, spending money on pieces of plastic
you can use to actually create something over and over again not only
sounds like something not to be ashamed of, it sounds like something
to be proud of.
Store clerks ask me all the time if what I'm buying is for "the kids".
I tell them heck no, I don't have kids - this stuff is for me.
