Of course for those of us who use grey and dark grey to try to model anything other than metal are basically out of luck! No more grey ‘concrete’, no more dark grey ‘stones’.

Castle builders? Sorry!

Town builders? Sorry!

Train builders? Sorry!

I think that’s overstating the problem, just a little. There are plenty of rocks, stones, even castles that are quite a “metallic” colour of grey.

Yes, the old dark grey did have a nice “organic” feel to it, but really I don’t think that the new greys is entirely unsuited to castles, brick buildings and so on. Perhaps not as suitable as the old greys, but not a complete washout either.

One exception is that when old dark grey is used in military vehicles it makes a great standin for olive green, but the new dark grey probably won’t.

The real issue is how to the new and old greys “play together”. I am looking forward to seeing some pics of mixed mocs.
