All I can say is, LEGO, what were you thinking??
Youve completely wiped neutral grey out of the color palete, and replaced it
with blue-grey.
I did see one piece that looked good in the new blue-grey, the binoculars the
stormtrooper is carrying while riding the dewback. The blue made them look very
metalic.
Of course for those of us who use grey and dark grey to try to model anything
other than metal are basically out of luck! No more grey concrete, no more
dark grey stones.
Castle builders? Sorry!
Town builders? Sorry!
Train builders? Sorry!
Congratulations, LEGO. Because some kids in a focus group said they liked these
new colors better, youve managed to upset your most loyal and fanatical
customers - the people who spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year on
your product. Meanwhile, your average customer probably wont even notice the
chance, or worse theyll just think that it was a quality-control problem and
they got miscolored bricks.
Looks like Ill be heading over to the nearest Pick-a-Brick to stock up on the
good dark grey while I still can, and doing my best to avoid any sets that are
predominately the new blue-greys.

How can the opinions of a few dozen focus group kids provide any meaningful (...) (21 years ago, 15-Dec-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

| (...) I think that's overstating the problem, just a little. There are plenty of rocks, stones, even castles that are quite a "metallic" colour of grey. Yes, the old dark grey did have a nice "organic" feel to it, but really I don't think that the (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

| (...) I thought of something else that really bugs me about this color change. Harry Potter sets!! Why? Because so far almost all the HP sets have been designed to work together. Look at the poster that comes in the sets - on the back it shows a (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)
