German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Shaun Sullivan
Hi All, I just loaded a whole cartload of new pics onto (URL) . Included are pics of the following: Sd.kfz 222 German Armored Car (North Africa) and crew Sd.fkz 251 German Halftrack (North Africa) and crew, with Howitzer Willys MB Jeep (North (...)      (...) These guys are really nice. Great use of the Naboo Guard torso and the Knight's Kingdom torso- I had written the latter of as only being good for heavily armored troops, so I'm impressed by how lightly-armored the bald Ranger looks. And the (...) (25 years ago, 25-Apr-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

hey shaun, i'm a fan of wwii models so i particularly like your jeep and half-track...terrific recreations!! is there any chance you know the approximate piece count for the jeep? it doesn't look like you used a lot of parts but the model is very (...)          Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Joseph Gonzalez
aw, man, i love it when we get a .dat file (to see the making of a great model so i can make some at home). i particularly like the way you used the hinged plates to effect the fenders of the jeep, fredrik. your original model is an excellent basic (...)          Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) I'm happy to hear that you were inspired by it! That's why I post models on the web (and LUGNET), in the first place! I didn't add the tools myself because I found them a bit too large (and many weren't available in LDraw). I thought about (...) (25 years ago, 25-Apr-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Eric Joslin
(...) I was inspired by it, as well. Shaun pointed me to the file after our first BrikWars game, when I couldn't stop slavering over his Jeep. As a Jeep owner, I found it to be especially cool. So, of course, I went and made some further adaptions (...) (25 years ago, 25-Apr-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) I think you may become a bit disappointed: It isn't nearly as great as the Willys. But it was the first model of the two, so it gave me some inspiration for the latter. Feel free to try to improve it if you want to. Right now I'm working on a (...) (25 years ago, 25-Apr-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) That jeep looks familiar: (URL) I modeled it after a Vietnam era jeep, not a WWII one. But they are quite similar! Also, I don't care much for minifig scale, so I didn't model it for the minifigs. But it appears to work pretty well anyway. (...) (25 years ago, 25-Apr-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Shaun Sullivan
Oops! Sorry, Fredrik, I forgot to mention you - I've been good up to this point, but it seems I skipped over appropriate crediting this morning.          Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) Having looked at the jeep a second time, I had kinda forgot why I used that somewhat strange setup for the front axle. But I believe that I needed a lot of half-stud offsets for the bumper mount and the grille and the headlights, and that was (...) (25 years ago, 26-Apr-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Shaun Sullivan

Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Shaun Sullivan
(...) Here I am, already correcting myself. Looking at the dimensions for the real world halftrack (2.10 m wide), it is painfully clear that even the width is too large - so the conclusion is, my halftrack is *about* minifig scale, and (...)          Re: German Halftrack, Armored Car, etc. etc ... —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) While attention to scale certainly is important, the appearance is probably even more important. And your models really look realistic!      I have only just read lugnet for the first time in aggggggeess. Shaun, what can I say?..COOL!!
