I have to agree to the comments about instructions. It used to take 20 steps

an instruction step for every other piece. Waaayyy too many steps. I end up
building (when I do build the model) by turning the page and doing the last
pic on it. I couldn't believe when the instructions for the newest "super car"
had two books and about 150 pages! C'mon Lego, reduce your printing costs and
increase the number of pieces to make up the difference.

You're right.  Most parts of the 8448 S3 Super Car II instructions are very
easy, especially since they provide plenty of circles and arrows to point out
what goes where.  But there were a few steps I looked at and wondered why they
put so much into a single step.

And then there's the alternate model section, where the instructions show the
core of the idea, but only give you a few sketches/pictures for the rest.
Admittedly, the undocumented section is mostly frame, but I like the approach
LEGO took.

(...) Of course, detaild plans for the alternates are available on the web site, which is nice, because I now have built the Hot Rod (with a few mods), and am working on turning my 3rd set into the Racer ;-) -- | Tom Stangl, Technical Support (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)
