Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) First set to use dark grey (according to Peeron) is 590 Engine Co. #9 (1977): (URL) the Brickshelf scan, it does indeed look like they're dark grey. For brown, I see push-brooms in 1978: (URL) started showing up in "regular" pieces much later. (...) (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Really? What sets had the dark grey? And yeah, I forgot about the maxifig hair for brown (or minifig tools, etc.). I was thinking of largely common elements when I considered when a colour first "appeared". From my recollection neither dark (...)   Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Haha that reminds me - the only 2004+ set I have is 4492 MINI Star Destroyer. It's sitting here in the original plastic container, minus all the non-bley pieces. I'd be happy to send this back to TLC with a letter to help prove our point! (...) (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) This is a GREAT suggestion. I would part with a few new gray plates and a couple of 1x2 "old gray" plates, to make the point. I would add, why not put in some pics of various MOCS that have been displayed at shows, and on the WEB, that make (...) (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Final draft of the letter?

I just saw this (I have a version going too in a thread in lugnet.color - we should consider combining efforts) Some comments - and it's just one person's opinion. (...) Agreed. But why is undermining this principle bad for Lego? Or, from a (...) (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Great points. Facts=Good. Pictures=best way to represent color facts. Actual parts are even better than pictures. We'll have to think of some way to incorporate your idea above. (Kind of like "Exhibit #1" at a court trial - I like it) I think (...) (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Well, they've been around for MORE than 20 years (1977 for dark grey and 1974/77 for brown, if you count the maxifig hair which probably wasn't ABS). So, yeah, maybe saying "more than 20 years" or "more than 25 years" (nice round number). (...) (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

OK Folks, I know I made a fuss about still whining about the color change after a year, but you folks are now NOT whining, your actually doing something. Yes, I would support and sign that letter. Although I rarely build with gray parts, I do use a (...) (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Final draft of the letter?

(...) TLC has had Reps at the Brickfests, they have seen what we can build with the Brick. Many AFOL's, especially .Castleheads have many projects that they are working on or have planned that now won't happen because of the color change. Send them (...) (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color)

Re: Color change: Let's go straight to the CEO!

(...) I don't know specifically, but I would assume (note the word "assume") that since the entire Spider-man line is licensed, that the licensing body would have a say in the design, or the fact that so many licensed figures (Mary Jane, Peter (...)   Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Actually, I 100% agree with you there (and did before I posted) - and the LEGO magazines I've seen for 10+ yrs proves your point. I agree that brick size and shape are MUCH more important (and hinted at that in the letter, so it didn't appear (...) (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) There is a factual error here. Dark grey and brown have not been around for 20 years. You probably want to annex the letter with a detailed description of which colours have changed, with a photo, or even real parts, as an example if you want. (...)   Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

Thanks for the feedback. (...) Good Point. I argued that internally as well, and thought that the promise on color consistency was a stretch (at best) so it's good to see some opinions that support that counter-point of view.   Re: Final draft of the letter?

Re: Final draft of the letter?

Hey, David, After giving it a quick read, I've got two suggestions: 1) I don't see anything wrong with addressing the letter to a real person, ideally the CEO of LEGO (whose name escapes me at the moment). I think a personally-addressed letter makes (...) (20 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

Things are made of all different colours put (...) (20 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)
