Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Kyle Peterson
I'll address the issue in which Magnus and Lenny hinted at in other posts: There have been a *lot* of stories written in the past few months. Without mentioning names, the "fathers" of picture/non-picture storytelling have been able to capture the (...) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Mark Nelson
I must say that I agree with you, Kyle. Not to say that I don't enjoy a good story! In fact, I enjoy writing my own! (Although I've been rather slack about that, now haven't I...) I think it would be best if the admins made a castle.ballads as well (...) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —John P. Henderson
I third the motion for a .castle.ballads subgroup. I love the stories, when I have time for them, and someday I will hopefully post my own. But most often I check out the root .castle just to get MOC ideas, share my own, and perhaps discuss (...) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Tony Hafner
(...) I'm confused. Isn't that the specific purpose of CastleWorld? If not, we should definitely have such a group. But then would the CW group become essentially an administrative group? I think that lugnet should have a general stories group (...) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Benjamin Medinets
(...) My understanding of Castle World is a group of people with a set story-line from admins...and then try to recreate different sequences of actions... ie sig-figs and story-lines based on a set of parameters. Sure there are stories, but I think (...) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Bruce Hietbrink
(...) This is my main objection. From my experience on other message boards and newsgroups, when there is too much compartmentalization, you suddenly get a whole lot of discussion on why this or that post belongs in this subgroup or that, which (...)           Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Tamyra Teed
I totally agree with you Bruce, I'm tired of the this goes here and that goes there crap.. I've basically given up on posting stuff because I've gotten my head bit off for posting in the 'wrong' place.. I'm sure someone will bite it off again very (...)           Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Magnus Lauglo
(...) .... (...) tips, (...) belong (...) I agree that I would prefer a somewhat more flexible attitude towards what should be posted in the various boards. I think if someone wants to sell some castle lego, or a lot of grey brick, it is likely to (...) (22 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —David Eaton
(...) [Dons flame suit] Personally, I've felt rather repelled from castle for my complete opposite viewpoint. Stories are ok, but that's not what I come to Lugnet for. If I want a good story, I'll go pick one up at the library. And over the last (...) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

In lugnet.castle, David Eaton writes: <SNIP> (...) That is your opinion, and I shall respect that. Not everyone likes an online story, its just the way the world works. However, I'd like to point out that most all of the subgroups of lugnet (with (...) (22 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —David Eaton
(...) Well, it's not that I dislike stories. Far from it. It's merely that in the Lego world it tends to be that a creation inspires a relating story. Hence, I might build X, and create a backstory to enhance it. That's great; I'm all for it. But (...) (22 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Chris Maddison
<snip> (...) <and another snip> I must clear up a point here. CW is a group of people (the balladeers) with their own storylines, controls, constraints, etc. The CW Admin is more of an update service than an actual admin. (and we haven't even been (...)         Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Leonard Hoffman
(...) I'd just like to say that while I have been talking about stories, I do have my own (neglected as it may be). Don't take what I've been saying elsewhere to be anti-story. (...) Personally I see stories as a type of MOC. LEGO castle, especially (...) (22 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Kyle Peterson
I'm not anti-story by any means. And quelching creativity is the last thing I'd ever want to do! From casual observation it appeared that the growing amount of stories might warrant a new group. For example, the growing amount of MECHA in (...) (22 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is lugnet.castle the place for stories? —Leonard Hoffman
(...) This is actually a good point that i hadn't considered before. (...) I'm trying not to get bent out of shape. I think everyone here has an idea of what lugnet is and what it isn't, and it is up to us to guide it along those directions. i think (...) (22 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.castle)
