He didn't comment much on the software, I dunno if that's because TLC is
skittish about releasing opinions or not (I recall a couple years ago either I
talked to or someone from TLC posted here - I/we asked if he liked the
program, and said he couldn't comment).  But this guy seems to be pretty aware
of the community, or at least he's poked aroudn enough to find LDraw/MLCad.

Actually they are aware of a lot of things, I know someone from TLC
who tried LeoCAD. It's not a big surprise, if they know Lugnet then it's
almost impossible not to know the CAD newsgroups too.

Hmm.  Multi-name support.  Hmm.

It would be a Good Thing to offer that.  If we ever get a copy of TLC's system
to release a parts update in their naming convention.  I'll bet more TLC
employees would get it based on that alone.

We could come up with a simple standard like: "0 alternate name: " as
the second line of a part if it's ever needed.

They did seem to hint that Lego will be coming out with a CAD program using
those names, I'm assuming because they have agreements with AutoDesk that it
will be based on their software.  Hopefully it isn't too dumbed down, but then
again, we may have the upper hand there because we're not effected by a
corporate vision - just by what we want.  And for CAD software that we (AFOLs)
use, its what we want that matters, not who makes it.

They might think that AFOLs won't buy enough copies of the software to
compensate the costs of making a program with advanced features that
kids won't use. Who knows what goes on their minds, they created Town
Jr. :)
