I'd like to hear some opinions on how we do define backwards compatibility?
Considering that most user built their models using MLCad (no idea which color
numbers are supported by Leo, Bricksmith or SR3D) which comes with very limited
color palette almost including only these colors:
http://www.ldraw.org/Article93.html
I'm in favour to abandon all the numbers added after the official LEGO color
palette has been published and follow the bitmapping numbering scheme for
LDraw.exe.
This would mean that the above colors would be renumbered to:
Reddish_Brown - 192
Light_Bluish_Gray - 194
Dark_Bluish_Gray - 199
The range from 57 to 100 could therefore be reserved for all those LEGO numbers
which are in the LDraw Core Color range from 0 to 57 and have to be relocated
like:
TLG Nougat - 18
TLG Nature - 20
TLG Medium green - 29
Thoughts?
