  Ldlite 1.0 delayed

For those of you awaiting ldlite release 1.0, it will be delayed a few days while I remove the LDRAW-style restriction that limits -MS bitmap creation to only 100 steps. I'd like LDAO to do a make catalog with only one call to create the (...) (26 years ago, 2-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Faster? I wait patiently. My machine is old, 486-66 DX2. Thank you Dr. Gyugi. Now, is that pronounced, L-Delight? (26 years ago, 2-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Ldlite 1.0 delayed

(...) BTW, I modified LDAO so Make Catalog now works correctly with both LDraw and LDLite. It still processes the files in batches of 100, but that's not a *big* thrashing problem. I also made some other tweaky adjustments, so the DOS stuff is (...) (26 years ago, 2-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Mmmm..... more cool stuff for me to play with on my linux box at work. Heck, if I end up figuring enough stuff out, as cheap as processors are getting I might just put together a super cheap box at home to run it dedicated. Spec'ed out a 300a (...) (26 years ago, 3-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)

[followup set to lugnet.off-topic.fun] (...) What I do at home is run Win95 on my box with a nice graphics card/monitor, and then use X-win32 ((URL) to run my Linux programs on the Win95 box's display. (26 years ago, 3-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Ldlite 1.0 delayed

Now if I understand correctly when you run something like X-win32 the machine doing most of the work is the Linux box, right? The PC is mainly just (...)   Re: Ldlite 1.0 delayed

(...) Yeah, the real work is done on the Linux box; the Win95 machine just does the display.   Re: Ldlite 1.0 delayed

(...) Yeah, I hear you. To be honest I'm not sure what I would run at home over ISDN that I couldn't just run in Win98 anyway. I think I'll do it more at work and then if I make another box for home, do more then. (...) Nah, I don't like to mess (...) (26 years ago, 3-Oct-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

I don't know if this helps much, but I had to figure that out once for pico inside of pine, and there it's called: composer-wrap-column so you'd might try setting that to 72 somewhere (dunno where).   X for Win95, etc. (was Re: Ldlite 1.0 delayed)

(...) Emacs is really just a lisp interpreter masquerading as an editor. :-) When I used to use unix with only a 24x80 ascii terminal, emacs was irreplaceable. Strangely enough, Ldlite started as a cross-platform LDRAW. But with the help of a few others, I've been amazed at how fast it runs on Windows. It's become clear that a Windows version adds a lot of value to the majority of people, so I've sort of (...) (26 years ago, 10-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)
