Very cool. As for a name, What's in a name? Some famous warmachines don't have names, or if their is one, few people know it. Case in point: F-117. Actually, I've found those ball joints in the Bionicle and Technic Stormtrooper and C3-P0 sets to be very useful at the hips, shoulders, and ankles in several of my recent mecha and large droid designs such as the Perseus, Thunderlasher, (...) Well, seeing as to how i built ONE mech in my LEGO career, i'm not sure how valid my opinion of "the hardest part to build" is, but the most trouble i've had with my ONE mech would be the joints. Hey Greg The hardest part of building a mech is visualizing in your head what is it that you want to build? Once you have that done, everything else is a matter of time to build things just right. The second hardest part is getting the mechs (...) (23 years ago, 28-May-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Ah, I forget to add: no matter which part is hardest to build, the hardest (but most rewarding) part for me in mechbuilding-business is to do it at least once a week with a given original design, over and over again. Well, a few weeks ago I had a sick day from school. I stayed home and, having nothing else to do, I went decided to build a Giant Gundam, my plan was to make it so large that I'd need to be inside to act as the frame. that never came to be, I don't (...) Well, let's see, Hmmm, it depends.... I ussually always start with the head. I like building the head of a new Mech, because at that point I know what "personallity" the Mech will have, then I start on the Hands. Once the Head and the hands are (...) (...) From what I've noticed of mecha design, most mecha have short thighs and long lower legs, terminating in rather large feet. I completely agree with you Chris. For so long I've been pondering this question as well, and could not find an answer. Legs...most definately the legs. I can visualize and create the head just fine, and the arms are usually the most intricate part I make, so take the longest. Ya What Mecha needs thumbs when it's primary job is to Shredd, Juilian, coleslaw or french fry mini figs! Yes handy. The fingers open up like a Swiss Army knife. Thanks Brian! I already did the green, grey, and dark grey colour scheme with my "Goblin" and "Chieftain" mecha. Military paint schemes get old quick. I wanted to try something different. That is correct, but weren't tanks also used in desert warfare, a la Africa during WWII (ex. Tubruk (sp?)) and U.S.S.R. (ex. Kirsk), and during Operation Desert Storm, as well. Thanks Bryce! Actually the accuracy of the cannon is decreased by more th 50% when the mecha is airborne. However, the cannon is already so advanced that it can still shoot reasonably well. (...) (23 years ago, 23-May-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Well, if this thing going to replace tanks, it's going to have be deployed in the same environments as tanks :) Glad you like the Scimitar. As for current projects, I was working on a VTOL troop transport. That's going to be scrapped because I don't (...) (23 years ago, 23-May-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
