Very cool.
As for a name, What's in a name?
Some famous warmachines don't have names, or if their is one, few people
know it. Case in point: F-117. Sometime just giving something a number
designation is all it needs. Or you could look at the number and gleen
something from that. SP-44A, well, that could be anything really. Remember
what Dirty Harry said: "The 44 Magnum is the most powerful handgun in the world"
Thus you look at the 44 in SP-44A and think, hmmm that's a really big gun!
Or you could just call it bob.

It doesn't have a name, if you have an Idea, tell me. also, I'm not entirely
happy with the cockpit, but I don't know what to do with it. suggestions are
gladly accepted, as are comments, and offers of cash or brick "donations".
press release follows.

-------------Breaking News from SigmaTek-------------

-New from the SigmaTek R&D sector, the SP-44A All Terrain Assault Mech. It's
powerful, Eight-legged drive system and High performance fusion reactor give
it ample power to cross the most rugged of terrain. with an optional add-on,
it is even capable of climbing sheer cliff faces. the SigmaTek Custom
Waveray communications system ensures secure, encrypted communications
between your homebase and all the other SP-44 units on your frequency and
transponder code. currently the only model is the "A" model, designed for
the military and interested mercenary groups. future models will be designed
based on consumer demand. this model mounts an experimental repeating
Tachyon cannon directly off the reactor core for maximum particle
penetration. mounted ahead of the reactor is the SigmaTek short-range
ballistic missile launcher, capable of firing explosive, armor piercing,
incendiary, and even nuclear payloads. on the underside of the chassis,
firing aft, is a pair of GAU-8 Avenger chainguns. capable of deflecting
downwards up to 90 degrees, this weapon is ideal for taking out that
annoying tail-gater. underneath the Tachyon Cannon is a double barreled
swivelling auto-cannon, for directing fire to where it is most needed. the
final weapon system on the "A" model is a pair of armored robotic arms
mounted on either side of the pilot's cabin. while these are not terribly
frightening weapons in and of themselves, they are truly formidable when
used in conjunction with the twin diamond saws mounted on the front of the
cab. this vehicle is an absolute nightmare for infantry, as its high powered
computer system can track, analyze, prioritize and target up to 500 targets
simultaneously, without any pilot intervention! for defensive purposes, the
eight crystalline objects on the legs are, in fact, part of a sophisticated
ion field system, capable of stopping projectile weapons fire as large as
.50 caliber, and of deflecting most light and medium lasers. as of this
writing, SigmaTek still does not have a name for this mechanical beast, and
is accepting suggestions, as well as suggestions for new models.
