What AFoL (Adult Fan of Lego) MOC (My Own Creation) gave you that first
aha moment when you saw it online or in person? How did it affect you?
For me it was first seeing Mladen Pejics Mirage Mecha.
While learning to use the internet prior to 2000 I came across his
web site and I couldnt believe it!

That was my Aha! moment. Realizing that I was not the only one building
robots. I had only imagined that others (obviously had to be) building similar
creations. Soon after I found BrickFrenzy and Mark Sandlins web site.
Then followed by Brickshelf and later LUGNET. It has been quite the yellow brick
road ever since!
The first AFoL MOC I ever saw in person was when
I flew out to California
in 2001 and saw Dan Jassims
Gibraltar Star Fighter.

Jaw dropping to say the least!
Soon after within hours, I met Dave Johaan, Bryce McGlone and Chris Snead.
All had their Mechs set up at Bryces house and again I had to pic my jaw up!
Seeing Ted Michons home the day after and then going to Legoland followed up by
a visit to Henry Lims
home.
I never felt like I was alone as a Lego Fan since then.

| (...) I'm not sure that my AFOL building experience was changed greatly by any set in particular, but my childhood building style was affected by lots of sets. - 6080 King's Castle had me obsessed with the idea of "opening" buildings with hinges. (...) (17 years ago, 29-May-07, to lugnet.build)
