But look at this post:

It seems to me that, within the limits of the text only techology we use here
for posting, MM had gone pretty far to "embed" his site in his post, short of
replicating the whole thing in the post, that is. Should it be judged that • way?

Despite that I am not sure that I actually agree with the argument I just
outlined that this site (based on the author's intent) should be evaluated as
part of Lugnet due to embedding, but I wanted to outline it for completeness.

I'd agree with the argument.  And I think I'd go one step further.  If I
maintain a site at www.isecretlyhatetodd.com and I never mention it here, I'm
not sure I should be held accountable ToS-wise if someone stumbles across it
and finds out that I'm secretly a MegaBloks plant who is trying to compile
evidence to help overthrow LUGNET and TLC.

BUT - if I make a post and include a link to www.isecretlyhatetodd.com and
even go so far as to invite people over, I should be held accountable ToS-wise
for whatever is there - because not only am I providing a link to the site (as
much as one can with text) I am inviting the community here to come over.

That's what was done in this post you mention.  A link was provided, an
invitation was extended.  Perhaps the content alone shouldn't be ToS-able
(perhaps, perhaps not) but I'd sure agree that it also doesn't fall into the
category of "oh, but that's on a personal site, not on LUGNET - can't consider
it at all" with respect to judging motives, actions, etc.

Actions speak louder than words.  Actions carried out on a website to which
you invite someone that contradict words you post here can (and should, imo)
be used to balance words posted here.

There, that was relatively calm.

G'day Mike, I've already posted my personal points on this issue: (URL) I'll reinforce them for my part... (...) Why should the ToS of this site be relevant to off-site content? Sorry for the malformed subject, it feels like it's 2 AM to me. Something has been nagging at me about one aspect of the latest... I think I want to recant some of my own words, and see if some other people do too. At least a little. Maybe it's a (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
