You know what I find to be the biggest problem? Finding whether a newsgroup
exists for a particular topic or theme I'm interested in. And the solution?
Sign up, use a newsreader, and use it's automatic matching function to see
if the keyword you're looking for exists. This exists, at least, in Outlook
Express 5 - I'm not sure how many other readers do this same thing, but
Outlook Express's newsgroup finding function is perfect!
If Todd had to code all this into a web page, there would be two major
negatives to consider:
1. Time taken to regenerate the list as the search pattern narrows.
2. Functionality of something like the above coded into a webpage *unless*
doing a search with a search box on a web page. Would work faster if a
search box is/was used for this - this covers some keywords that Outlook
Express might not find for you, such as searching through posts made in a
newsgroup.
Of course, the search box would have to be, by definition, non-interactive,
and would be waiting until the user clicked search or hit [enter].
Just my $0.02 worth [$0.015 really, after conversion. ;)]
Cheers ...
