Er, what I just wrote was backwards. You're talking about having color but
no numbers? How is that different from having the numbers? Even the 6x6x6
safe palette shows six gradations of red from black to red, and very few
people here (as a percentage) are running 8-bit anymore (from a survey here
a year ago, so it must be even lower now).
