I don't want anything fancy in terms of determining what thread I'm in...
basically, if the current location (in the location box) is:
http://www.lugnet.com/admin/general/?n=5774
pressing the next button should result in the current location becoming:
http://www.lugnet.com/admin/general/?n=5775
and pressing the prev button should result in the current location becoming:
http://www.lugnet.com/admin/general/?n=5773
without regard to whether this append really is part of a thread that is in a
different group too... I just want to go through the posts in strict numerical
order.

yes.

This is way different. I am not sure what the semantics of this actually is,
but since it displays more than one post when I find the MORE at the bottom,
clearly it's not the same.
Also, and much more importantly...
Most posts are not too much more than one screen long. Therefore if I am speed
reading posts via the web I can leave a mouse cursor on the next button if the
button is fixed in the bar. If it's a more at the bottom I have to cursor down
to find the more in an unfixed place.

Yes.

| (...) OK, this only took some small tweaks to make it do this (about 10-15 minutes). It's nothing fancy (numeric links rather than pretty words or buttons) and it's not especially bright (detects walking off the low end but not the high end) but (...)
