The most fun is when you display a LEGO moc train at a train show (GATS,
NMRA, Greenberg, etc...) and you have a "real" model railroader come up • and
identify the make/model of locomotive you built.  That's when you know you
did a good job!

And Dean?  I like your locomotive.  The color scheme lends itself to LEGO
quite well!  It makes me think I need to motorize the 'fans' on my SD-50

Here's a question for you all, Should the fans be gray as they are now or
BLACK (from the spybot Gigamesh?) My wife saw both of them and said gray was
better. What's your opinion?

(yes, John Neal -- it's got two-axle trucks instead of three-axle -- deal
with it!  <grin>):  http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=76710

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone! :-) Up here in Canada I think we use mostly
SD's because otherwise they won't make it up the hills. They were special
built just for us. (Way back when, from my understanding. Though I can't
remember where I got that info)

(...) Silly answer: Try it both ways, and see what looks best! Serious answer: I think we're really modeling the fan housing, not the fan itself. Usually, it is the same color as the top of the locomotive. So for your CN, black would probably look (...) (22 years ago, 10-Oct-02, to lugnet.trains)
