  New LUGMap for LUGNET

Hi All, I'm glad to announce a first major change which is "visible" this time as well. LUGNET now has a brand-new, area-wide World LUG Map, simply called LUGMap. As yet the maps enclose 85 entries! Here are the details and how they work: The LUGMap (...)   Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Hi Rene, I'm not able to click on any map regions, or pins. I'm using Firefox 2.0. Not sure why it wouldn't recognise the MAP tag. Are you able to click the image in Firefox at all? All the links works fine though - it's looking great! FUT: (...) (18 years ago, 10-Nov-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Cool features, Rene! Thanks. And I'd like the (URL) Twin Cities LEGO® Train Club> added to the LTC section if you would. Our location is pretty much the same as the GMLTC on the map. JOHN (18 years ago, 10-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Now it's there, it doesn't point exactly to the Twin Cities, but I guess it's workable :-) -Rene (18 years ago, 10-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) The STUDS group in Sydney is no longer active. The Sydney LEGO Train Club (SLTC) is meeting on a regular basis. -pete.w (18 years ago, 10-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) I'm also using FF 2.0 and it wasn't working last night and now seems to be working. It might be worth making it a little clearer when you click on the LUG pin though. I tested on Brazil (the only South American LUG) and didn't think it was (...) (18 years ago, 10-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) I've been meaning to make an official announcement, but I've been waiting on or web guy to finish moving everything over to the new site.   Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Hi Rob, Groups for MSLTC and CARLUG are now closed, but still online for reference. I wrote a short last message there and to the sidebars. A new group ARLUG is created (you are the curator - congratulations :-) And the LUGMap is updated. (...) (18 years ago, 11-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Is JLUG actually an in person LUG? I thought it was more of an online community, akin to Classic-Space, BZPower, FBTB, etc. The two admins, Janey and Ross, and in Canada and Australia respectively, and the membership is from accross the globe. (...) (18 years ago, 11-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Hi Lenny, thank you very much for the explanation, I thought the same. That's why also Eurobricks, LUGNET itself and other Community Sites are missing on the maps. Leg Godt! Rene (18 years ago, 12-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Actually, for clarity sake, it is both an online community and a real LUG, in fact, a number of times, 3 up to 8 of the members have participated live with each other in displays and competitions. That is more than some LUGs can say. Having (...) (18 years ago, 12-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

Thanks for all this hard work! I always liked the idea of Lugnet being a window to physical LUGs. Still not one in Ireland unfortunately... God Bless, Nathan Visit my brickshelf gallery: (URL) (pic=link) (18 years ago, 12-Nov-06, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Only Janey could retroactively take the world's least organized LUG and turn it into a proper group. :) Are we counting the spring 2006 show as one of OBB's 'official' events? If so, that would then be 5 public shows (that one plus four Hobby (...) (18 years ago, 12-Nov-06, to lugnet.org.ca.obb, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Well yes, you are right about 5 shows, almost forgot last May... once I collect dates, lists and links, I will get something more "official" up and posted. AND yes, and SOME of those non-LUG members sure are quirky! (smile) I look forward to (...) (18 years ago, 12-Nov-06, to lugnet.org.ca.obb, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

GPLR shows up not quite in the right place (it shows up on the coast of Washington state). PNLTC is a special case: it doesn't really exist any more - except that we do occaisional Portland/Seattle reunions. I'll defer to Steve Barile and other (...)   Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Thanks. Of course now the Sealug folks will be upset they are somewhere in South Eastern Washington instead of Seattle. PNLTC probably should also be moved to halfway between Portland and Seattle to reflect the center of gravity of the club... (...) (18 years ago, 13-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) The day I started with the new maps and when I designed the pictures, I wasn't aware of the large number of LUGs, MUGs and LTCs. I thougt it would result in a similar number as on the old maps. Hindsight is 20/20. Added to the Suggestion List: (...) (18 years ago, 13-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Perhaps use the Google Maps interface? I know it's possible to place arbitrary pointers on it (with a popout for more details, websites, etc). Should make it easier to update too, as the data then just becomes an XML file. Dan (18 years ago, 13-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

Looks great Rene. As the author of the origional LUGMAP I am glad to see the idea resurrected. I hope this map is easier to keep updated than the old one. -Eric (18 years ago, 14-Nov-06, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

This map really is a leap forward, Rene, thank you. You've included a representation of the North British LEGO Train Club on the European sub-map, but this doesn't reflect on the wordwide-map, where the blue pin for Europe is missing. With friendly (...) (18 years ago, 14-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New LUGMap for LUGNET

(...) Hi Dan, IMO, "real" maps like maps.google.com, local.live.com or www.frappr.com always look somehow unsightly. They're good for setting places on a very detailed base, like showing residences of club members etc.pp. But for a rundown on LUGs (...) (18 years ago, 14-Nov-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)
