For the time being, the list is being limited to North American Groups.
This is at the request of LD who asked Steve to put this together in the
first place.  LD has something else in mind (what I have no idea) for
other parts of the globe.

I didn't realize LD had asked for this organization... If it's North
America only, would it be better for it to be the NAOLTC?

Whoa...this is heavy.

Am I the only one who finds this extremely disturbing?

Mike,

Who at LD made the request that it be limited to North American groups?

Why would they make such a strange request?  (If they didn't give a reason,
why didn't they?)

Who at LD made the request for the organization in the first place?

As I understand, it will eventually be a global thing, they just asked to
start with NA for now.

I'm getting a rather uneasy gut feeling here.  When you say, "As I
understand, it will...", is that understanding from talking to someone at
LEGO or from train people in the AFOL community?

Unless I'm just paranoid[1], it almost sounds as if LEGO desires to set up a
global train organization itself.  If that is the case, then time is short.
The community needs to act fast to form a *global* and *international* LEGO
Train Club organization of its own -- by the community, for the community --
before LEGO does.

Please don't let the organization be NA-only without a *full* explanation
from LEGO...and even if it ends up being NA-only (let's say that LEGO gave
some compelling reasons, for example), please don't close the door to there
being an international organization as well.  Don't let LEGO get there
first.  That would be bad.  I can't emphasize this enough.

[1] Not that there's anything wrong with that; it's not whether or not your
paranoid that matters, it's whether you're paranoid enough.  :-)
