SNIPPIFICATION

Finally got round to posting some pics of my Class 44 Peak diesel engine. When moving over the points, the articulated bogies are a sight to behold!

Mark, This looks really nice! Now I *have* to know how you did the bogies. The Proto is 4-axled right? Your bogie design seems very inriguing. I also like the use of the space radar dish as a grille. You’ve just showed me how to do mine! I hadn’t thought of that. So that’s two new things from you. I look forward to seeing more!

Yes, each bogie has 4 axles. On ine the middle two axles of each bogie are the motor, with the others articulated. Each articulation uses a double wishbone steering arm: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?PartID=32069 and this right angle axle joiner: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?PartID=32184 with the axle joiner round hole in the middle of the double wishbone piece and an axle through the holes. A 1x4 technic beam on the motor holds the axle joiner with two axle pegs. A 1x2 2-hole beam on the articulated wheelset holds the double wishbone piece.

As usual the motors are connected with a wire through the body of the loco.

See if you find any other ideas by browsing my Brickshelf :-) I’ve posted pictures of 6 diesels, 7 steamers and the Pendolino. Still one engine, a few wagons and some scenic items to post though! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=mbellis

The Class 28 and 50 diesels use a slightly different method of articulation, and the 66 yet another! See if you can get this one to work though - it’s quite reliable, though changes of slope have to be gentle. Some of the other methods overcome that limitation.
