Just got a mail from a German Co-Afol, who follows the gauge and scale
discussion with interest, but who can't manage to post here on Lugnet.

BTW: he builds in all three scales 6-wide and lately 7-wide:

He gave an interesting input for set 323 from 1965 - the last train set,
before the 'real' trains have been invented:

Engine 323 and prelimenary ones from book 238 haven't been driving on track
and there is something special about them:

Their wheel blocks have been built into the models in lenght direction to make
the train gauge 4-wide (partly the roofs in 6-wide).

The gauge of 4 studs between the rails has probably been invented with the
track in 1966.
