I don't quite consider it a "find" since I remembered specifically what
set it was based on my recollection of building it (several years ago, I
haven't cracked my Legends versions yet).

True, but John did say: "I'm sure there is a LEGO set that sticks 1x1
round plates up in an arch." which is exactly what this set does. The
key of course is the idea of sticking studs into the underside of the
arch. Another good use of the technique would be as a tunnel roof to
save use of arches.
