If we convince them, and that is a BIG if,  we will get at best ONE
pack. Asking for multiple packs in different colors is a non starter, in
my opinion. Given that, I would ask that the pack have doors AND windows
in a number of different colors. The question is how many different
colors, ask for too many and the pack gets too big. Leave out EVERYTHING
else other than windows and doors.

The window- door ratio is tricky. Here's my thinking
Colors: Black, red, blue, white, yellow (the big 5 traditional colors)
Glass: clear. Or trans lt blue, maybe even a mixture with some colors
using one kind but make sure there is train glass (the divided pane
kind) for every window

1 pair doors
8 1x4x3 windows
2 1x2x3 windows
4 1x2x2 airpliane widnows

Things NOT to include.
slope fronts
Bottom nose pieces
roof pieces

johnathon is confused if he thinks these are useful pieces in the final
analysis.

4 Transparent lt. blue hinged canopy with hinge

Why?

1 engine windshield with glass
What is this? The metroliner nose piece? No way. I have too many of
these already.

1 6x5 engine windshield roof (sloped on 3 sides)
No way.

1 4x4 plate (goes on top of the train roof)
No way. Dilutes focus. Buy a plate pack to get this

Now, if you want to ask for a train shapes pack, you can... put in the
metroliner pantograph rods and catenary shoes, put in the 2x6 medium
slopes with offset tops, the special 3 sloped train roof pieces, the
noses (top and bottom), and so forth. In black, white and gray, some of
each. But concentrate on windows and doors. THAT'S what we really need.

Oh, and ask them to revive 5073 (??) which is the boxcar door pack.

Larry, I agree with you that we should drop the nose section, but as for color, you really missed out on an obvious one - GRAY! How else are we to recreate the metroliner? Besides, I need enough AMTRACK cars to simulate real wrecks and derailments. (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.trains)

I like the idea of a letter writing campaign. (Gee, I wonder if Susan Williams has an email address? ;-) I also think Larry P. makes a good couple of points: keep the kit(s) small and 'focused'; Have a mix of colors in the kit(s). I like the ideas, (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.trains)

I am going to be starting a letter campaign to Lego to try and get them to provide service packs with train windows and doors. I would like to get feedback from other people as to what they would like in a service pack as far as ratios of windows to (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.trains)
