  Re: IR train base alternative

(...) Actually a typical bridge rectifier will drop ~1.4 volts in the supply. That's alot! About a 16% drop in voltage, and a 29% drop in overall power at the top end. I'm not sure what effect this would have on the control circuitry. Mat (18 years ago, 27-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

(...) Like Jordan I found that triple wheel sets work fine as long as the wheels are close together. However, with my (URL) breakdown crane>, I found that it did increase the rolling resistance somewhat in corners, so your trains will slow down more (...) (...) Ondrew, how did you handle the voltage drop through the bridge rectifier? Did you measure any top-speed dropout? Curious, ---Will (18 years ago, 25-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

(...) Thanks for the pictures - it looks like a nice set. UK Shop-at-Home lists it as "Coming Soon on 27 Nov 2006", for £50. How well does the triple wheel set on the engine take corners and points?
