A while back, the Save 9V Trains website held a contest to design train models using LEGO Digital Designer. There were several categories for entries - steam locomotives, diesel/electric locomotives, rolling stock, rail maintenance, passenger cars, fantasy, and rail-related scenery. Winners, chosen by a panel of noted train fans from around the world, were announced about a month ago. The full story is on the front page of http://save.9vtrains.com.

I’m very new to the world of LDRAW and ray-traced images. That said, I’ve produced the following rendering of the contest winners:

You can view the full-size image at this link: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jordan/Save9VTrain/s9vt.jpg

Feedback is always welcome, either on the models or how I can improve my rendering skills.

Thanks, Jordan

Disclaimer: I must offer my apologies if I have mangled any of the models in the process of importing them from LEGO factory and converting them to LDRAW files. I know that on James Mathis’ DB 200, I have 4 slope bricks in the wrong place. And for the “Fantasy” model, I was unable to download the LDD file from the LEGO website, so it does not appear in this picture.
