  Sawnee Mnt. Coal Tipple

Introducing the Sawnee Mountain Coal Company coal tripple. (URL) name 'tipple' is derived from the time when men would push carts full of coal to the bunker and tip them over for dumping. (URL) tracks are serviced here. (URL) power house, the place (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.trains) !!

  Updated Train/Monorail Transit Terminal

I've beefed up the Bricktopia train/monorail terminal, making it bigger, and adding numerous architectural details. The photographs are also now much better. You can see the main page here: (URL) features include a smoke evacuation (using the new (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.trains, lugnet.build.arch)

  Rock Raiders Patrol Train

This a little Train oriented MOC that I whipped up on a rainy 4th of July afternoon. It uses various parts (less than 50 I think) plus a basic train motor assembly. I call it the 'Rock Raiders Patrol Train' While the yellow seems to work, I wish TLC (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.underground)

One-tenth stud offsets (was Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars)

(...) Right, take a look at these pictures. I've set up a row of 1x2 bricks, each set 1/10 of a stud further back than the last: (URL) Anything from 1/10 to half a stud of recess could be concealed inside a 6-wide wagon. Jason J Railton (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) Can you post some pics? I would love to see this!! Jake --- Jake McKee AFOL LUGNET Member #211 (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 2x2 turntables vs 2x2-with-pin plates was Re: Un-powered replacement for train motor

(...) Your right this does make it a little tippy. I forgot to mension I was building 8 wide, so I was using a technic plate to mount the truck to the body of the engine. This along with the extra width of the engine, and the extra length I used on (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 2x2 turntables vs 2x2-with-pin plates was Re: Un-powered replacement for train motor

(...) Oops, I meant 6x4. I find if you're centreing the pin plate you can tile a 7x4 area around it without having any turning problems on a 6x28 baseplate. It's a shame those old 2x3 helicopter rotor mounts don't have the right size pin on them. (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 2x2 turntables vs 2x2-with-pin plates was Re: Un-powered replacement for train motor

(...) What you need to do is put some tiles around the pin-plate. Not right to the ends of the bogus motor block, but about the 6x6 size of a normal bogey plate. If you do take the tiles right to the end, it won't rotate properly under the wagon (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) Ah, I get it now. Very subtle. By the way, I can now do 1/10 stud offsets! It's a bit small to look any good, but it's possible. You use a 2x1 plate with centre stud. That sets you 1/2 a stud, or 5/10, back from the normal row of studs. Then (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 2x2 turntables vs 2x2-with-pin plates was Re: Un-powered replacement for train motor

<snip> (...) You got it right. People also call them container cars (which is what i use for the ease of foreign readers. Josh (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

2x2 turntables vs 2x2-with-pin plates was Re: Un-powered replacement for train motor

(...) I was going to use the 2x2-with-pin plate in my designs too, but I found the 2x2-with-pin plate to make my cars to tippy. When I made my double-stack well cars (what is the right name for those?) I decided to try the 2x2-with-pin plate to put (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: SCLTC meeting on July 14th

Hi John, I don't think I can make it as we have "preparing for baby" classes the next two weekends (all day on Saturday). Be sure to take pictures though and post them!   Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) Heh- whoops! Um, actually... the car fell apart when the viaduct collapsed under the ambassador train... yeah, that's it! We have pics on brickshelf somewhere documenting the wreck... I would never disassemble someone else's creation... -- (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) ....I was sure it happened... :-))))) And maybe that's why when it came back to me there was written "Itlug" on one side and "UlLtG" on the other... (no,just kidding :-)) ) Bye Gianluca (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Un-powered replacement for train motor

Cool, I was working on one of these too. (URL) did mine a little differently. By replacing the bogie plate with a 2x2 plate with a pin out the top, the 1x2 plates with the center bump could be placed in the groove part of the train wheels. This (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) I checked out the pics, but they are kinda fuzzy, so they are a little hard to see the 1/5th. Can you describe how it is designed? Do you happen to have a .dat file for it? Thanks! Jake --- Jake McKee AFOL LUGNET Member #211 (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  SCLTC meeting on July 14th

Hey all, The Southern California LTC is having its next meeting on July 14th at my (John Gramley) house starting around 10am. I live in Escondido which is about an hour and 15 minutes south and east of Brad Hamilton's place. Directions are near the (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.us.lugola, lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) That's quite impressive, to have both the inset sides and the lettering. But, it only shows the two halves being kept 4 plates apart (5 plates = 2 studs). It doesn't appear to have any way of locking them in place on the body of the wagon. (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) No .dat file, but Gianluca Morelli does an amazing job of demonstrating his technique with a pencil. His solution does this very nicely in 6-wide. I had the privilege of seeing the ITLUG car in the flesh at PNLTC's Guinness World Record (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)
