Look at this:

if you see the cross section (upper left),yes,the two halves are linked
togther but not to the wagon,but they can't move crosswise because the 1x
plates in their bottom (blue) are put against the studs of the wagon frame
(red),so they have no degree of freedom.

| (...) Ah, I get it now. Very subtle. By the way, I can now do 1/10 stud offsets! It's a bit small to look any good, but it's possible. You use a 2x1 plate with centre stud. That sets you 1/2 a stud, or 5/10, back from the normal row of studs. Then (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)
