Lime Green fire tricks were big in the 70's.
Sometime back in the late 60's early 70's someone did a study and came to
the conclusion that people see the Lime Green colors better in traffic.
As a consequence, ALOT of city's painted their trucks lime green.
Here are some trucks form the city I grew up in from the 70's

Sometime in the 80's someone else did s study and claimed that the color of
the truck did not matter...but what was more important was the lights, and
the amount and placement of reflective materials on the truck....so...as a
result most city's went back to the classic red color...or a variant...red
body/white roof....or the growing popular "Chicago" style, red body/bl;ack
roof www.massmetrofire.org/images/SomervilleE7Met.jpg

I personally prefer the black over red combo, and have changed my trucks on
my lego fire site to reflect that
