Re: Is "traditional" Technic being killed off?

(...) In a way your right, your saying the "look" of Technic has changed and that we have to change our building style. But this isn't the actual problem as far as I'm concerned. Almost all the great builders on this forum combine technic with (...) (23 years ago, 22-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Is "traditional" Technic being killed off?

Having followed all the discussion on this topic, I have finally decided to add my two cents worth. I have decided that the Technic line has now evolved into a different toy, and for many of us having being used to the "traditional" Technic, it has (...) (...) So you do think LEGO's got it right? (...) Are you serious? "...if it were my company I would use it...and try to remedy" implies fairly strongly that what you suggest is (in your mind) different to what's happening now. And the overwhelmingly (...) (...) I believe they're doing exactly that. Did my comments lead you to believe that I felt otherwise? (...) I think it's an excellent tool for all kinds of market data. It's a completely open arena. It's pure supply and demand. But in the end you (...) (23 years ago, 22-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

(...) And you think they're not doing that already? IIRC the Guarded Inn was pretty popular on eBay... ...and the Metroliner was fairly popular... (...and cypress trees and train doors if you want to consider parts as well as sets). Cheers Richie (...) (23 years ago, 22-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

However, I stand by my point that were it my company I would use it as a guage of what might be missing from my (...) (23 years ago, 22-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: VP of lego direct Q&A Transcript

(...) Given the sheer volume of LEGO that goes through eBay in any given week I would find it hard to label it as inconsequential. As a business person I would see it as a part of my own market that was being eroded by my inability to meet customer (...) (23 years ago, 22-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Is "traditional" Technic being killed off?

Some great points have been made here. I actually really like most of the new parts (particularly the various axle connectors), but it does seem that the functionality of the average Technic model is less advanced than that of five years ago.   Re: 8458 Suspension Parts

I can't answer your question, but there's one other thing you might also try. There is a third type of shock absorber with a spring rate in between the light gray and yellow shocks. These are the dark-gray* shocks. They may turn out to be sufficient (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Is "traditional" Technic being killed off?

(...) I would agree, looking at the new technic, where are the big machinery type sets of old, like the "claw rig" and "crane"? It just seems to be lots of trendy styling with not a lot of functionality as with the old sets. These new styling bits (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.dear-lego)

  8458 Suspension Parts

As some of you may know, I have been working on a truck-like MOC for the last several months. Anyway the model has become somewhat heavy at this stage and I think that I will have to replace the normal shock absorbers (small, light gray) currently (...)
