Here are some suggestions:

- Viking burial at sea - Set the box aflame and push it out onto a lake or
pond. It's not the most ecologically sound (or safe) way of doing it, but a big
box, like the Silver Champion is sure to attract a crowd.

- Flatten and store - Although not many of the boxes do this well, most are
designed for the outer packages at least to break down flat. Open all tabs,
then look inside the box and find the glued tab. When collapsing the box, make
sure that tab is flat and not bent, as this is how they are stored prior to use
at the factory. The card board inner frame can also be done this way, but
usually takes up more room. As for the vacuform styrene, who knows, maybe a
nice set of planters?

- Tops - Just cut off and save the front covers. Spray them with a UV coat and
have them framed. Touch up scuffs with similarly-colored latex paint as needed
prior to coating with UV spray. They will be great in your den or office.

- Late Night Dump - If you are definitely NOT going to keep them, drop them off
in the dumpster of your local Toys R Us or Zany Brainy. They probably won't
notice the difference.

- Club House - If you have enough boxes, you could create an indoor clubhouse
(or desk or worktable) out of the boxes. Hot glue the sides together and add
large grey baseplates to the top.

- Attic - I have room in my unfinished attic where mine might wind up.

- Fake Gifts - Wrap them up and send them to Todd Lehman as a joke. :)

(...) The vacuum formed trays aren't styrene, they're #1 plastic (PETE). Our county has several recycling centers, so the ones I don't use for sorting (the Technic ones usually make nice sorting trays), I toss in with the soda bottles. (24 years ago, 15-Dec-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.storage)

(...) This one made me laugh out loud :) Actually, having taken over our apartment, we only used to nest boxes, but now we're cutting down the smaller ones and stuffing them into the larger ones, (dan has never had a closet, and mine has the dining (...) (...) Or send them to me as a real gift -- if they're the smallish US$6 or US$8 size boxes. I can use them for shipping stuff. --Todd (24 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.storage)

I am getting buried under empty set boxes. Yet I am reticent to throw them away for some reason. Right now I cut up the small ones and store them in the larger ones. Unfortunately, I am running out of space to store the large ones too. (Actually I (...) (24 years ago, 15-Dec-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.storage)
